How to use Cezar Profit & Margin

  1. Known Selling Price

Enter the cost, any additional costs and the selling price. The tool automatically calculates profit, margin and markup.

  2. Target Margin

Enter the cost, any additional costs and your desired margin. The tool calculates the net price at which you need to sell the product or service to achieve that margin.

  3. VAT / tax

If enabled, enter the desired rate. Tax is added to the net selling price and is not included in the profit, margin or markup calculation.

  • Choose the currency used for displaying amounts; this does not convert exchange rates. Use the same currency for all entered costs and prices.
  • Review the live results, then reset the inputs for another calculation. Target margin must be at least 0% and below 100%. Only currency and tax preferences are saved locally, not your calculations.

Margin and markup are not the same

Margin: Margin shows how much of the selling price is profit.

Markup: Markup shows how large the profit is relative to total cost.

Cost
€80
Selling price
€100
Profit
€20
Margin
20%
Markup
25%

Therefore, a product with a 25% markup does not have a 25% margin.

Calculate a selling price from your target margin

Cezar Profit & Margin supports two pricing questions: what profit a known selling price produces, and what net price is needed for a target margin. Include additional costs in the cost total to make comparisons meaningful. The result reflects the figures you enter, so omitted costs are not included automatically.

Separate net price, tax and profit

The calculator adds optional tax to the net selling price and shows it separately from profit. Margin compares profit with selling price, while markup compares it with total cost. This distinction helps you compare offers on the same basis. Currency selection changes the display label and formatting; it does not perform currency conversion.

Questions about profit and margin

Does the tax amount increase the calculated profit?

No. Optional tax is added to the net selling price and excluded from profit, margin and markup.

Why must the target margin be below 100%?

Target pricing divides total cost by 1 minus the margin as a decimal. At 100% that denominator is zero, so the tool does not accept that target.

Can I save or download a calculation?

There is no calculation export or saved-calculation list. Results are displayed on screen; only currency and tax preferences are stored locally.
